Pregnancy – Cause of Hypertension
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on October 5, 2011
I was always amused by pregnancy. I do travel a lot and I see everywhere women working hard in their daily life like I do. But the difference is women carry a new life inside them. A small baby totally dependent upon her for survival. But I don’t do that.
It is unfortunate for most of the people normal life is very much abnormal during pregnancy. Hypertension which is due to pregnancy can initiate both emotional and serious physical problems.
Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH) also sometimes referred to as preeclampsia or toxemia occurs in about 5 to 10 percent of pregnancies. Chronic hypertension varies from PIH in that it is normally present prior to pregnancy.
Baby and mother both face a grave threat by both conditions. There are also information of gestational high blood pressure that do not mostly comes with the same risks, but can intensify the probability of the mother later developing PIH.
Is high blood pressure a problem during pregnancy?
Blood flow to different systems in the body is hindered with high blood pressure. Because of the lack of blood flow, the baby can suffer too.
The restricted blood flow can cause the fetus to abrupt from the placenta prematurely (placental abruption.) The baby can also be underweight or suffer a lack of proper development due to the lack of nutrients.
Worse, PIH left untreated can lead to seizures, the mother’s death and/or fetal death.
pregnancy induced hypertension symptoms
high blood pressure blurred vision extreme nausea edema or swelling more than trace amounts of protein in the urine present
Each symptom alone does not necessarily mean that PIH is present. It is usually a combination of two or more symptoms.
These systems may result in regular trips to the doctor for monitoring to determine if PIH has developed is or likely to develop.
Treatment
The best cure for mother is having the baby. But the same do not apply for the baby. The baby may not be fully developed to live a life outside the womb.
The most common treatment for PIH during pregnancy is increased rest. Different degrees of bed rest may be in order for different cases of severity in order to lower blood pressure. Some women find themselves spending weeks or even months in bed, often lying on their left side. These women are usually advised only to get up for bathroom and shower trips or to grab a bite to eat.
Many father’s blood pressure have lifted due to this stress and tension during the pregnancy period. Mother is not the only one affected by the complication due to pregnancy but partner or father who loves her a lot is also affected.
To reduce your blood pressure to normal levels or to manageable levels you should avoid tension and stress in life wherever possible. Pre-natal care should be taken seriously when you are pregnant. You can sure that almost all the pregnancies finish in happy and healthy babies, mom’s and dad’s.
Focused relaxation and better bed rest is the focus of my blood pressure program for pregnant ladies. The good thing is it will even help the loved ones from stress and tension due to teh complication arises in pregnancy.

Know the Leading Causes of Stress to Fight Them Off
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on October 2, 2011
Stress is considered to be the number one health killer nowadays. When you are stressed out from the many problems you encounter, this can heighten other illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and insomnia, among others. It can also make you unfocused, annoyed and angry at all times, and makes you arrive at poor decisions on certain matters. It can ruin your relationships with people around you and may even make you want to end your life.
In order to prevent being stressed, you should be aware of the leading causes of stress. One factor is financial problems. When you are not earning enough and bills are piling up, you cannot help but worry about how to make ends meet in order to survive. A lot of couples always argue excessively when finances are not enough for the family.
One of the leading causes of stress is also work at the office. When there are big projects of your office which you are in charge of, this can trigger worries and anxiety. When you and your boss are not in good terms, this can also add to your problems. If you hear that you are likely to get terminated, this can be a big stressor.
Relationships with your spouse, your sweetheart, and your children can also be one of the leading causes of stress. When you are fighting with your spouse or your boyfriend or girlfriend, this can make you sad and problematic at the same time. When you are encountering a problem with your children such as poor grades or vices, you cannot help but feel anxious about this. When your parents are about to get a divorce, this can also add to your worries.
One of the leading causes of stress is also health-related problems. When you learn that you are suffering from serious illnesses, this can give you much reason to worry. You even experience sleeplessness because you constantly think about what will happen to you and how will your sickness affect the family.
In order to relieve you from stress, experts advise yoga, meditation, physical workouts, healthy diet, relaxation, and unwinding. You can also continuously press stress balls as this can relieve tension in your hands. Carefully manage your time so that you will have enough time for your family, work, friends and yourself. Travel to a new place, get an aromatherapy massage, try a new hobby or sport, and go on a shopping spree. You can also buy something beautiful for your house or spray aromatherapy air freshener in your room. Chew gum constantly because this also relieves tension.
Although these are but short-term remedies, a long-term solution would be to confront the person or issue that gives you stress and talk about and analyze the problem objectively. As much as possible, minimize the emotion or reaction you have towards the stressor. Regular exercise and proper diet can help you control your feelings. A constant visit to your psychologist or a psychiatrist can also help so that they can give you proper advice and medication if necessary.

Medications Are Often the Leading Causes of Hair Loss
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on October 2, 2011
The old adage always said that a woman’s hair is her crowning glory, so there’s little surprise that when a woman’s hair begins to fall out at an alarming rate, she’s going to be devastated. We spend a lifetime washing, cutting, curling, and otherwise dealing with our lustrous locks with the intent of causing ourselves to look our best, and thinning hair can cause self-esteem to plummet and our confidence to wane. Woman live their lives with the thought that they are always going to have more hair than men; however, the fact of female baldness is being given more and more attention these days, because it happens to so many women. One of the biggest causes of hair loss in women is medications.
It doesn’t matter whether the medication you take is purchased over-the-counter or if it’s prescribed by a physician, there are still properties in medications that disrupt the normal hair growth cycles in the body. If you can stop taking the drug or drugs causing the problem, your hair should grow back in without any problem. However, for the thousands of women who are taking specific medications for things like high blood pressure, depression, and even severe allergies, quitting a medication may not be possible as it could put their lives at risk.
Hair loss due to medication usually doesn’t start until two to four months from the time you started taking it. Therefore, short-term medications shouldn’t have any effect on your hair falling out. Unfortunately, it’s the necessary long-term ones that can shorten the growing time of hair and cause it to fall out before it should. Some of the drugs that are known to cause hair loss include:
- Anti-hypertensives taken for high blood pressure
- Anticlotting drugs
- Drugs for specific diseases, such as Parkinson’s, Epilepsy, or breast cancer
- Birth control pills
- Mood stabilizers
- Antidepressants
- Anti-inflammatory drugs, both steroids and non-steroids
- Antibiotics
In many cases there are alternate medications that can be prescribed that may not have the same effect on your hair. Your body may well be more sensitive to some meds than it is to others. Of course, with a lot of these drugs that are causes of hair loss, not taking them could have much more severe consequences than hair loss which means they need to be continued. Even so, there is hope. Products with monoxidil, such as Rogaine, will often help you regrow some of the hair that you have lost due to medications. I can guarantee you that these products are not just a waste of money, because I’ve been using them for years, and I can always see a marked hair loss if I stop using them.
